Über die Veranstaltung
Born in 1962 and growing up in Switzerland, Eveline finds artistic inspiration through almost any natural material she can find. Artworks are on old wood or various metals; she works with bone, horns or fur, and paints with coffee, sand, watercolors amongst many other materials.
Eveline has always been interested in meeting new people and discovering different cultures. Since her youth, she has felt compelled to travel and experience lesser-known traditions.
At 20, she realised a 4-month trip to Sinai, where she lived with Bedouin families in their black tents, interacting with them in their daily life: herding goats, searching for water, cooking on the open fire. She remains deeply imprinted by the simplicity of this life close to nature under the silent starry sky. This was the point at which her curiosity and fascination with nomads and their culture began.
She has travelled extensively and was always able to learn deeply from the experience of archaic culture and its transience. Creativity, for Eveline, is a basic need: the path to become a balanced person. Today, after some difficult personal situations, reflecting on the starry sky of Sinai, she lives In Crete in a remote location without electricity or any urban comfort and infrastructure. She creates her paintings and sculptures here in a yurt (Mongolian tent), shaped by the environment, and dealing with transience, inspired by the extraordinary wilderness and her own primal world. Her works are deliberately nameless. She wants to seduce people such that, through her works they can tell their own stories: their visualizations, their memories; using that 'inner eye' that is at the center of each and everyone’s spiritual world.
